Glebe Pathways

Program description

Glebe Pathways is a short term alternate educational program which aims to re-engage targeted young people in learning and facilitate a return to their home school or other education or training solutions. Glebe Pathways is located in the Glebe Youth Centre. The program is an initiative of the Department of Education and Communities (Sydney Region and Sydney Secondary College, Balmain) in consultation with the Glebe Inter-agency Co-ordination Group, Sydney University, The Big Picture organisation, Glebe Youth Services and the Glebe community.

The primary focus is young people who live in Glebe or are closely associated with the Glebe area and are not engaged in an education or training. Young people in Year 9 or 10 who have disengaged and wish to complete their RoSA or equivalent courses may be accepted into the program.

Referral to program

Referrals will be accepted from the Aboriginal Student Liaison Officer, Home School Liaison Officers and the Principals of Balmain and Leichhardt campuses. Referrals will include a risk assessment, advice from the Education Case Worker and briefing for all staff prior to entry.

Transition

Transition to the most appropriate learning or training environment for young people is the primary objective of the Glebe Pathways program. Young people enter the Glebe Pathways program with the clear expectation that they will transition to an appropriate learning or training environment to meet their needs.
