Applying for placement in Years 8 to 10

Vacancies may occur in Years 8 to 10 (in the selective stream). The number of vacancies can vary from year to year and generally depend on the number of students who leave in the previous year. 

Application for entry to Years 8 to 10 in 2017 opens on 27 June 2016 and closes on 22 July 2016.

For placement in 2017, download the Years 8 to 12 application formon the High Performing Students Unit website.  Submit the form to the school by 22 July 2016.

Selection procedures for entry to SSC Balmain Campus in Years 8 to 10

The suitability of applications will be determined by a selection committee.  The selection committee comprises a deputy principal, classroom teacher and parent representative.

The selection committee will consider the students to be offered placement and will establish a reserve list in order of priority based on academic merit.

Selection criteria

In determining academic merit, the selection committee will consider the following criteria:

• Last school report
• ICAS test scores
• NAPLAN results

The school will contact applicants about the outcome by 9 September 2016.

• Requests for review submitted within 14 days of the date on the outcome letter.
