Online Learning

Parents are being supported in their choice to keep their children at home at this time. Teachers have been working hard to develop learning options for students. The main learning system that the school uses is the G Suite. This includes Google Classrom, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Hangouts, etc. Google Classroom is an online setting which enables teachers to post resources, videos, links to interactives, questions and surveys. Students can interact with their teachers in this online classroom, as well as interact with other students. A couple of classes use some other learning systems such as Edmodo and OneNote. Instructions for each of these programs will be provided to parents to assist in supporting your child's learning.

The school has collated online classroom codes for each class. These will be sent to parents. If you do not recieve an email by 25 March, please contact the school and the information will be re-sent.

As we move forward, we will be exploring options for video conferencing in lessons, virtual excursions and online guest speakers. We are excited to take this opportunity to explore innovative approaches to teaching and learning in a virtual setting.

Just like the real world, online settings have expectations for appropriate behaviour. Our school values are: "Respect yourself, others and the community"; "Act responsibily"; and "Participate productively in learning". These values apply in the online setting just as much as they do when students are in the physical school setting.

We expect that students will communicate appropriately and politely, make positive contributions to class discussions and engage in respectful social interactions online. Students will need to be organised, stay on task during online lessons and use their devices as directed. Teachers will communicate with students regarding upcoming homework and assessment tasks, but students also need to take ownership of their learning. Students should complete all classwork as requested, and ask questions if they are not sure how to do something. Files should be organised into Google Drive based on subjects, and students should ensure they can access all of their online classrooms. If you require help, be sure to ask your classroom teacher.

Continuity of Learning Plan

Our Continuity of Learning plan specifies the broad approaches that will be taken to ensure the students' learning can continue smoothly in the transition from learning in a physical space to learning in an online context. Revisions may be made to this plan based on feedback from staff, students and parents.
